Support
In the app, Send Feedback… in its menu bar menu reaches us with the details we need; otherwise use the feedback page or write to walkingman149@gmail.com. We answer within two business days. It helps to include your macOS version, whether your Mac has Apple silicon or Intel, and what you were doing when the problem happened.
Getting started
- Where is the app after I install it?
- In the menu bar: the menu bar menu (the little arched window). It switches worlds and opens the Manager (menu bar → Open Nookiva…, or ⌘, while the menu is open), where your library, permissions, power settings and the login item are.
- Which Macs does it run on?
- macOS 13 or later, on Apple silicon and Intel.
- Why does it ask for Accessibility or to control Finder?
- Worlds react to your desktop icons, so the app needs to know where they are. Accessibility tracks them most precisely; without it the app asks Finder instead. You can say no to both: worlds keep running, they just don't react to icons. Neither permission lets worlds see your files, and icon names never leave your Mac (see Privacy). You can change your answer in Manager → Permissions.
Something's not right
- The world stopped moving.
- Worlds pause on purpose whenever your desktop is covered, the screen is locked or asleep, or the screensaver runs, so they cost nothing when you can't see them. They also slow down on battery depending on Manager → Power. If a world stays still with the desktop in view, choose it again from the menu bar menu (the little arched window) and tell us.
- I can't click my desktop icons.
- Interaction mode is on: it lets you play with a world, and puts the world in front of your icons while it lasts. Turn it off in the menu bar menu (the little arched window); it also turns itself off after 3 minutes.
- The app uses more CPU than I expected.
- Each world's store page shows what it costs on our test Mac; most use a few percent. Battery saver in Manager → Power lowers the frame rate further. If a world uses much more than its page says, send us the name of the world and your Mac model.
- Where are the logs?
~/Library/Logs/Nookiva.log. It contains no file names. Attaching it to an email helps us a lot.
Buying and your account
- I bought a world but it isn't in the app.
- Sign the app in with the same account (Manager → Library → Sign in…). Worlds you own appear within a few seconds while the Manager is open. If it still isn't there after a few minutes, write to us with the order number from your receipt.
- Can I use my worlds on another Mac?
- Yes, on any Mac you own or control: sign in there with the same account.
- How do I get a refund?
- Within 14 days, for any reason: see the Refund policy.
- How do I delete my account?
- Write to walkingman149@gmail.com from the address you sign in with. What is kept afterwards, and why, is on the Privacy page.
Removing Nookiva
Quit it from the menu bar menu (the little arched window) (or Manager → General), then drag Nookiva from Applications to the Trash. Downloaded worlds are in ~/Library/Application Support/Nookiva; delete that folder too if you won't reinstall. Turn off the login item first if you enabled it, or remove it in System Settings → General → Login Items.
